Charter fishing Miami

Captain Dennis Forgione Talks to the Miami Herald

While many were looking forward to the Super Bowl, there were arguably just as many anglers looking forward to the profusion of sailfish swimming throughout South Florida. The days just prior to the major football game watched by millions are largely considered the most active, with fishermen often catching and releasing as many as ten sailfish a day.

What drives sailfish to South Florida? It’s the cold fronts. With the polar vortex driving temperatures into the negatives a few weeks ago, sailfish sought warmer waters in the south, resulting in the influx of the sturdy sea dweller.

If there is someone who knows a thing or two about sailfish fishing, it’s our own Captain Dennis Forgione of Free Spool Sportfishing. Forgione was interviewed by the Miami Herald in an article last month where he added his own expertise regarding sailfish and their migrating habits. He also went into detail regarding his techniques on how to catch sailfish.
