Legendary Captain Bouncer Smith retires after 54 years as charter boat captain in Miami. Capt. Bouncer, of Bouncer’s Dusky 33, is one of South Florida’s most beloved and respected captains, and has been a family friend and mentor to Captain Dennis Forgione of the Free Spool for as long as he can remember. Bouncer has contributed so much to the fishing industry and fishing conservation through his countless seminars, speeches and appearances through the years.
Family, friends and fans of Bouncer celebrated with a surprise parade on the water on June 3rd. Over 50 boats lined up in Government Cut to wait their turn to pass by the fuel dock at the Miami Beach Marina to show their love, pay their respects and send best wishes. There was also an amazing water display courtesy of the Miami Dade County and City of Miami Fire boats. It was definitely a send-off to remember!
Capt. Dennis Forgione and his crew aboard the Free Spool are so grateful for Bouncer’s support and friendship and wish him the very best for a relaxing retirement!
